I hope you won't mind that I posted about you (http://lettherebegarden.blogspot.com/2011/02/patricks-garden.html) but when I read your story, I couldn't resist passing it along. I know something about loss and the comfort a beautiful garden can bring but your courage is far beyond anything I have experienced.

And thanks for the advice! Because we don't know how long we'll be at this house, planning for these gardens has been a challenge.

I'll be following your blog with great interest.

Patrick,

I was reading how February is a good time to put down a granular pre-emergent in beds, to keep weeds down.

Does this still apply to beds where bulbs are planted? Any issues there?

And how about pruning rose of sharon at this time? Still a safe bet?

Appreciate it, Patrick.

cheers!

Hey Phil,

Don't worry about your bulbs. They will bne fine.

Since Rose of Sharon is a summer bloomer, now is a great time to prune. It's the best time since you can see the overall shape of the tree.

Cheers back to you, my friend.
